Jem and Sarah are running 5km to support ASRC
Story
Hi All,
The last few years Jem and I have run to fundraise for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). We will be running 5km on 15 October as part of the Melbourne Marathon to support the ASRC.
Last month my mum passed away. Mum and her family arrived here as refugees. They worked hard to find their place here and made an amazing contribution. I am so proud to be the daughter of a refugee and to help support the important work of the ASRC.
The ASRC supports people and families with their basic food, housing and medical needs during their journey to safety and freedom; as well as advocating for a fair, just and welcoming Australia.
Jem and I will be running to honour mum’s memory and together we can champion hope and compassion.
Any contribution big or small can help make a difference.
Thank you so much for your support!
ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
